Are your bookshelves a ‘work in progress’ like mine or are they clearly and systematically organised? Tell us a little bit about your method if you have one. They used to be very organised! Shortly after I moved home after living abroad for a few years, I broke my ankle and found myself back in my childhood bedroom, having very much lost all of the independence I had loved living abroad. My bookshelves became a bit of a project and I pulled all of the books (and I have a lot!) off the shelves and organised them all alphabetically. It was my pride and joy! Having moved out a few years later, my books were all boxed up and they remain, for the most part, in boxes at my parents’ house. Someday I’ll find a system that I love, but until then, I think it’s fun to experiment. Right now my books are sorted by type — Women’s Fiction, Book of the Month Books, Young Adult series, Young Adult Standalones, etc. Apart from books, what is to be found on your bookshelves? Bookmarks, FUNKO Pops, mugs, and misc. bookish items. What is the prettiest book to be found in your current TBR pile? Definitely the Wicked Deep by SheaErnshaw . The naked cover is just as pretty as the dustcover. I absolutely adore it. What do you do with books once you’ve read them? I keep them, hoard them, and obsessively love them. Are your bookshelves a ‘work in progress’ like mine or are they clearly and systematically organised? I don’t think I put that much thought into my bookshelves if I am honest. I am a bit of a messy reader. I try to keep my books in series and in the right order, but that usually doesn’t last too long. I also have two bookshelves and something that I’ve named my bookledge. It’s my favorite part in my house! What do you do with books once you’ve read them? I am collecting them for my personal library that I will have one day haha! My bookshelves are pretty well organised, I have them in genre order where I can, for example I have a Harry Potter shelf, a history shelf, a Victoria Schwab shelf. I don’t have just one spot I keep my books in my house and my shelves are already overflowing. I sometimes dream of color-coding the spines, but for now, I just pull out my signed copies of books and keep those safe. A part from books, what is to be found on your bookshelves? These days I’ve got airplants, candles and photos on my shelves. My puppy tends to chew up my books so I’ve had to be more careful about what is at her eye level. What do you do with books once you’ve read them? I keep my favourites. I read quickly so I tend to use the library more than purchasing books. In our current home, we have this beautiful glass-fronted cabinet in our dining room to display fine china. I don’t have fine china, but I do have books! And since they are “on display,” I switched from an alphabetical system to organizing them by color. It makes a great conversation starter whenever we have someone over for dinner. My shelves are always a “work in progress” I can’t stop myself from constantly buying books and am currently running out of space. Another thing is that we are currently living in limbo, so half my books are where we are right now, and the other half are at our condo. But I do have a system when I am putting them on the shelves. I like to put the books from same authors together, in order of their size. A part from books, what is to be found on your bookshelves?
