We need to talk about books! #11

This week I have the pleasure of catching up with Ebru from Ebs and Her Reads Book Blog, where she writes about books, books and more books.

Are your bookshelves a ‘work in progress’ like mine or are they clearly and systematically organised?

My shelves are always a “work in progress” I can’t stop myself from constantly buying books and am currently running out of space. Another thing is that we are currently living in limbo, so half my books are where we are right now, and the other half are at our condo. But I do have a system when I am putting them on the shelves. I like to put the books from same authors together, in order of their size.

Apart from books, what is to be found on your bookshelves?

On my bookshelves, you can also find; bookends, bookmarks, my insta camera and once we figure our situation out and I can get to my bookshelves again, pictures.

What do you do with books once you’ve read them?

I like to keep them. Especially if the covers are pretty, they become nice decoration pieces in my bedroom. Hehehe!

Do you tend to re-read books?

I love re-living my favourite books, so the answer to your question is yes. I enjoy re-reading books, even though I know what’s going to happen at the end.

Have you ever read or started reading a book only to realise that you had already read it?

Not necessarily, but sometimes a book will give me  the feeling that I’ve read a similar book and that’ll just put me off for some reason…

How do you feel about lending books to friends?

I will lend my books out depending on the friend! My books are “My Precious” and they need to be treated with TLC (tender love and care). I would go as far as to buy a copy of the same book to another person just so that I don’t have to lend it to them, specially if I know they would return it damaged. I know, I am slightly crazy…

Are you a ‘spine bender’ or do you like your spines to be pristine?

Most of my books are eBooks and I don’t really have the problem of bending the spine or not… but when I do have paperback books, then I’d like to keep them pristine.

Do you write in books, do you use sticky notes for your comments or something like that?

On my eReader, I’ll highlight and make notes to the important parts of the books that I want to talk about but, due to my OCD self, I don’t mark the actual paperbacks.

What is the prettiest book to be found in your current TBR pile?

Well, this might be cheating, but I have just started the prettiest book on my TBR. It is The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw. I mean, just look at that cover…

If you take physical books on holiday with you, how do you choose them? If you don’t, do you take an eReader instead or do you plan to buy books at destination or perhaps you don’t read on holiday etc.?

I am an eReader girl. And my Kobo goes to pretty much everywhere I go.

Do you take a book with you whenever you go out, just in case?

Of course I do. Books can be so much more entertaining than people sometimes. Also, as I mentioned above, I am an eBook kind of girl, so if you have a smartphone, you have an eReader. And since we are a society that can’t function without our smartphones, yes, my books travel with me to wherever I go!

If you have a partner, do they love reading too? If they do, do you have the same taste in books? If they don’t, have you ever tried to convert them?

Hahaha, I think the last book my husband read was in high school for schoolwork. Hahaha. I’ve tried many times to convert him however, he is more inclined to watch tv shows.

Have you ever met an author? How did it go?

I wish I had met an author. I live in Calgary, so not very many author events happen there. But if I was to meet an author, specially a favorite author, I would be major “fan girl”ing!

If you were to write a book, what genre would it be?

Recently, I have tried my hand at NaNoWriMo and have written a YA Fantasy, however, wasn’t able to finish it before another idea popped into my head and I head to go along with that idea. I am currently working on a romantic comedy, and I hope to be able to finish it by June and maybe even send it out to the world!

And that was my last question for you. Thank you so much for joining me today!

If you'd like to find out when Ebru's romantic comedy is finished - and all the reading she does in the meantime - this is where you can find her:
