We need to talk about books! #17

This week I have the pleasure of catching up with Ashley from Thrifty Bibliophile, where she writes about books and all things bookish.
Are your bookshelves a ‘work in progress’ like mine or are they clearly and systematically organised?

I’m constantly rearranging my shelves! Someday I’ll find a system that I love, but until then, I think it’s fun to experiment. Right now my books are sorted by type — Women’s Fiction, Book of the Month Books, Young Adult series, Young Adult Standalones, etc.

Apart from books, what is to be found on your bookshelves?

Bookmarks, FUNKO Pops, mugs, and misc. bookish items.

What is the prettiest book to be found in your current TBR pile?

Definitely the Wicked Deep by SheaErnshaw. The naked cover is just as pretty as the dustcover. I absolutely adore it.

What do you do with books once you’ve read them?

I keep them, hoard them, and obsessively love them.

Do you tend to re-read books?

If I loved the book, then yes, I’ll re-read it. I don’t do a ton of re-reading, but there are a handful of books I know I’ll re-read again someday.

Have you ever read or started reading a book only to realise that you had already read it?

No! But that’s because I use Goodreads religiously, so I have a pretty good handle on what books I’ve read and which ones I haven’t.

How do you feel about lending books to friends?

I wouldn’t be opposed to it if they cared about books the way I do, but I don’t really do any lending right now.

Are you a ‘spine bender’ or do you like your spines to be pristine?

Pristine, baby!

Do you write in books, do you use sticky notes for your comments or something like that?

I use sticky notes to make notes and to mark favorite quotes.

If you take physical books on holiday with you, how do you choose them?

I usually take my Kindle with me whenever I travel. It’s much more convenient. Usually I download a selection of books from the library, that way I can mood read to my heart’s desire.

Do you take a book with you whenever you go out, just in case?

Totally! My Kindle is a constant companion.

If you have a partner, do they love reading too?

My husband is not a big reader, but I’ve recently gotten him interested in audiobooks, so I feel like that’s a win.

Have you ever met an author?

Not really! I met a poet as a child (maybe Shel Silverstein?), but I barely remember it.

If you were to write a book, what genre would it be?

Young Adult, hands down.

And that was my last question for you. Thank you so much for joining me today!
