In conversation with... Ashleh Queen

Do you remember Booknet, the new platform for authors and readers that I've recently discovered? Well, I am now lucky to be able to share with you an interview with one of its bestselling authors, Ashleh Queen:

Q: When did you first start writing stories (not just on Booknet but more generally)?

A: I started writing in October 2018.

Q: What genre(s) do you write in?

A: I write in the genres of Billionaire, Drama, and Mafia - all of them have erotica in. I tend to make it a little spicy.

Q: When did you first join Booknet as an author?

A: I joined Booknet in May 2019.

Q: How did you first hear about Booknet?

A: I was looking actively for Apps in which I can post my ongoing works in a serialised manner. And, while looking, I was also considering how many downloads they had on the Play Store, so I knew I would be publishing somewhere I can find an audience. I think Booknet had a million downloads at that time.

Q: How many books have you published on Booknet?

A: I have published thirteen books on Booknet. Two of them are still ongoing. The rest are finished.

Q: What are your thoughts on Bookscription as a way of selling books?

A: In one word: amazing. Bookscription on Booknet is a plan that allows an author to start selling their ongoing story. An author is supposed to complete it in approximately four months. The reader is charged a one-time fee and then they are allowed to read all the coming chapters in future. As a reader, I like how they don’t charge for every chapter. And, it is economic and exactly how much an average eBook costs. But as an author, I enjoy the interaction with my readers the most. I have gotten fans on Booknet who then buy my ongoing works. And, I absolutely love interacting with them. I love how they write to me guessing and anticipating what they think is about to happen. I like the kind of interaction it provides while the story is still ongoing. Also, the sense that people are willing to buy your book that is not even finished is such a boost to your confidence. I have sold all of my books on Booknet through this plan. And, I think it explains how much I love it.

Q: What is your bestselling book on Booknet?

A: It is the Contract Marriage series. My first book that went on Bookscription on Booknet.

Q: How long did it take for you to start earning money as a commercial author on Booknet after first joining?

A: When I joined Booknet I wasn’t into selling my eBook - I was writing for fun. I didn’t start selling for the first seven months. But when I did start selling, I was making money right away. Booknet contacted me to recommend that I should sell my work. They encouraged me and I thought there was no harm in trying. And, I never wrote for free after that.

Q: How much money have you earned (approximately) over the years from Booknet book sales?

A: I have earned around $60,000 from Booknet, including the English and Spanish-language versions, and prizes from winning the contests. And, in my country, that is a lot.

Q: What was your day job before becoming an author?

A: I was a teacher.

Q: Is being an author now your full-time job or still a ‘side hustle’?

A: It is my full time job.

Q: What are your earning goals for 2023 as an author?

A: I would love to make at least $60,000 from Booknet in a single year. But the more the merrier.

Q: What would you say to authors who are seeking to earn more money from their writing?

A: I would say join Booknet. Explore it. It comes with a lot of benefits. It has an amazing reader base. You should definitely try it.
