My impressions…

When it is done well, the combination fiction and real life can result in magic. Ann Mah definitely created something magical here! I’ve read quite a few books set in Paris during World War II in recent years, but none set in post-war Paris. In that respect, this novel was a breath of fresh air as I feel like I’ve learnt a lot about history while reading the most captivating, fictionalised account of the years that Jacqueline Bouvier (later Kennedy Onassis) spent in the city of lights when she was a young girl. Well-researched, this is a fascinating read about a fascinating woman. I love it!

Three words to describe it. Engaging. Evocative. Well-researched.
